UX Manager Toolkit: Easy to use comprehensive skill mapping combined with the individual development plan (IDP) to nurture high-performing UX teams.
Based on the NN/g Skill Mapping Template, I made a lot of improvements after putting that to practical use.
- Reorganized UX skill sets into four main categories (Research, Interaction Design, Content Strategy, and Visual Design).
- Included Leadership and Core Qualities to assess important skills outside of UX that are indicators for success.
- Each category is broken down further into more specific areas with definitions for each item to improve the team’s shared understanding of each metric.
- Created two versions: 1) All-in-one view for fully transparent teams or manager only assessment and 2) Linked spreadsheets for private individual scorecards that populate for the manager.
- Tabbed layout for individual scorecards and improved current and future state visualizations.

These UX Team Skill Mapping Scorecards can help you better identify focus areas, any gaps within your team, or training opportunities for individual contributors. Even if you’re not a manager, you can still use the individual scorecard to rate yourself and reflect on your professional goals with a clear focus.
